There is no doubt that Nike Air Jordan 1 is still one of the most coveted sneakers in this world. These silhouettes have been produced with many models of Low, Mid, High, KO, and Hybrid. Some said they probably all look the same but do you know what’s the difference between Jordan 1 High and Mid?
Don’t worry if you don’t know the answer. In this article, we will show you some interesting facts about these two incredible sneakers.
The origin of Jordan 1 High and Mid
Though it was debuted more than 30 years ago, Jordan 1 High remains the pride of Nike. Everything about the shoes is special, from the name to the design and even the resale price.
The Air Jordan 1 High was well-known as the first signature sneakers for the legend of the Hall of Fame – Michael Jordan. It was banned by the NBA and we have another post to talk about it. If you are interested in this story, you can read more here.
After that, the shoes have become popular than ever. Nike expanded its market and continued releasing several colorways of the original Jordan 1 High and its Low versions in consecutive years.
Along with the Jordan 1s second retro run, the biggest sportswear company introduced the Air Jordan 1 Mid in the 2000s. It was a 3/4 cut version of the Nike Jordan 1 High.
The main difference between Jordan 1 High and Mid
Design and look
If you have a cursory glance, the Jordan 1 High and the Jordan 1 Mid look similarly. They have the same general shape, pattern, the Nike swoosh. And of course, both feature the Air Jordan “wings” and “Jump man” logo.
But, if you look closer, there are some different points between these two sneakers. The first difference is their height. The Jordan 1 High is higher 1 cm than the Mid one. It can cover your whole ankle when you put it on.
Another way to tell the difference is to count their lace holes. The Jordan 1 highs include nine lace holes. Meanwhile, the Mid only has 8 lace holes.
Apart from that, while the Jordan 1 High and even the Jordan 1 Low have OG colorways, the Mid doesn’t. The only version considered exception was its model “Old Love/ New Love” released in 2006. The sneaker had the same colorway as the ” Black Toe” original.
Prices of these shoes
If you consider their retail prices, the Jordan 1 High has an average price of $175. Despite their high value, the Air Jordan 1 Highs tend to sell out quickly after they were launched in the market. And how about the resale price? The Jordan 1 High can shock you because their price can be upwards of 500%.
On the other hand, the Jordan 1 Mid often costs $115 for a pair. As you can see, the Mid is much easier to buy in both retail or resale market. However, sneakerheads seem to ignore it for many reasons.
